The NJCRC held a Technical Assistance Coffee Chat on 11/6/23 titled “Community Standards for Resilient, Ecological and Accessible Design.” Presenter Joseph Sutkowi, chief waterfront design officer for the Waterfront Alliance, explored an update to the WEDG standard, what it entails, and how municipalities can apply it to public and private-sector development.
WEDG® (Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines) is a national rating system for resilient, ecological, and accessible design. As a complement to the state’s inland flooding rules and NJDEP living shorelines guidance, WEDG is a tool to help municipalities realize better waterfronts for their communities.
